Conclude the day with a delicious Peking duck banquet dinner.

Enjoy marvellous scenery as we wind our way up to the Great Wall (Mutianyu Section) - a much quieter and picturesque section of the Great Wall. Here you will have plenty of time to climb up to the top of this magnificent structure. Unforgettable views, and when the weather is good, a lovely picnic lunch will go to make this a day to remember! On our return to the city, we stop by a Jade Carving Workshop.
Oriental's Style: We visit the Mutianyu Section of the Great Wall, avoiding the tourist traps at the popular Badaling section. When the weather is good, we will enjoy a lovely picnic lunch on an ancient watchtower.

Once the largest city in the world, Xian is a treasure trove of China's former glory. Our morning begins with a leisurely walk on the Ancient City Wall and South Gate. Next journey to the UNESCO heritage listed Terracotta Warriors. Here you will have plenty of time to personally inspect the eternal guard of the First Emperor.
After lunch and a chance to sample local specialty of hand-pulled noodles, visit a workshop to view the production of Terracotta figurines by local craftsmen and perhaps purchase a 6 ft replica warrior for you garden or home!

Day 10: Yamdrok Tso Lake (via Kampala Pass)

This morning's journey takes us away from sprawling Lhasa into an extraordinary high plateau landscape. The road gradually climbs to a staggering height of 4,797m to reach the Kamba La Pass from where you will have the panoramic view of the icy turquoise blue Yamdrok Tso Lake that lies serveral feet below the road. This is one of the four holiest lakes of Tibet and the home of wrathful deities. Today our lunch will be a home cooked meal with a local Tibetan family. Later in the day, return to Lhasa.

Day 11-12: Rail Journey Across the Rooftop of the World

We board the Tibetan Sky Train this morning across western China into Shanghai. While some tour groups would have taken the train route in the opposite direction, we make sure your journey traverse countless charming sights along the line during day time so that you would not miss one minute of the majestic sights of vast grasslands, crystal clear alpine lakes, deep gorges, snow-capped mountains and the enormity of the Tibetan plains.

Day 13: Shanghai

To compensate for the reduced free time in Lhasa, a further half day tour of Shanghai will be arranged. For the 10 August departure (with Shoton Festival), we will take the train on Day 12, reducing the free time in Shanghai.)
