Colours of Southern Clouds

This tour takes you "south of the clouds" to remote towns and villages where you will experience the colourful and diverse ethnic cultures scattered in the rural south.

Day 1: Guiyang
Arrival Guiyang, the provincial capital, by flight from the end of our tours or holiday packages. Transfer to hotel and settle in.
* Optional day trip to Huangguoshu Waterfall available

Day 2: Guiyang - Kaili (B)
Drive to Kaili where we will be greeted by the friendly Miao tribes with their impressive silver ornaments & hand embroidery. Walk along the villages and discover their traditional way of paper-making.

Day 3: Kaili - Rongjiang (B)
Explore the Shui minority village hidden in a deep valley. En-route pass by many beautiful rice terraces where you can do some hiking or try your hand at plowing a rice field! Afternoon arrival Rongjiang and overnight in a local hotel.

Day 4: Rongjiang - Congjiang - Zhaoxing (B)
This morning we hike up the hill to admire the stunning town architecture and drum towers of the Yintan Dong minorities. Afternoon is spent on a leisure stroll on the Basha Miao Village where we will visit the local family houses and discover the best-kept traditions of the tribe. Overnight in Zhaoxing.

Day 5: Zhaoxing - Sanjiang (B)
Wake up to the stunning vista this morning. Today you will visit the beautiful moutain village of Tang'an Dong to admire the perfect example of mankind live in harmony with the mother nature. Move onto Sanjiang to see the famous Chenyang Wind and Rain Bridge. Overnight in Sanjiang.

Day 6: Sanjiang - Yangshuo (B)
Depart for a long day drive crossing the provincial border into Guangxi province. On the way there is an opportunity to stop by and climb up to the Longsheng terrace rice fields, before reaching your final destination, Yangshuo, in late afternoon. Stay two nights in Yangshuo.

Day 7: Yangshuo (B)
Day free at leisure in this poetic town set among the karst peaks. Choices are many - from losing yourself in one of the cafes on West Street; cycling to the surrounding farmlands; boat ride on the Li River or remote sections of the Yulong River; explore the water caves or watch a demonstration of cormorant fishing.

Day 8: Guilin - Next Destination (B)
After breakfast transfer to Guilin Airport for connecting flight to the next destination or perhaps extend your stay in Yangshuo for a few more day to fully enjoy the beauty it has to offer?
